2001 Buick Century wont start after cleaning air filter... Sign In

Hi, and thanks for taking the time to read this. My grandmother just gave me her 2001 Buick Century. The car was starting just fine, but then when I took the air filter out and cleaned it, then put it back, the car wont start now. It just cranks and cranks, but wont turn over. I took the filter out and re-sat it and attached the hose once more, but that didnt do anything. The fuel gauge doesnt work, so I thought maybe it had simply run out of gas. Filled it with 2 gallons of 87 and tried to start the car again, but no luck.

Before cleaning the air filter I bought a cheap OBD2 scanner, which reveals a P0135. I ran the OBD2 scan again and now its also showing a P0446. What would you guys suggest I try to get the car started?

Happy 4th.
It was running fine till YOU touched it. Duly noted:
Forget codes for the moment is WAS fine if not showing a CEL light should have left it alone. Was fuel showing or thought to be low at all? Can you hear fuel pump "prime" up with just key put to "run" position? If not say so.
Did you unhook any wires and just what do you mean by "re-sat" it? Reset? Reset what?
Car may have security or antitheft features you don't know or need to find out if this is touched what for THIS car you do if anything.

At some point it's basics of all cranking not starting isolating what is missing. Fuel delivery (assorted reasons) or no spark first it was just running before this.
Retrace things you already did see if anything possible was left unplugged.

Still interesting you added fuel so how low did it read? Need to know that alone could be the problem if it sat around think of most likely first. Out of fuel is frequently a disaster to fuel pumps that can be tested and should be at some point,

The computer is inside the air filter box so make sure you didn't disturb or damage anything there.

Look for any plugs or wiring you may have disconnected.

Step on the gas pedal a little bit while cranking..... If this gets it to start, clean your throttle body.

***UPDATE*** SO I got the car running again like it was before. It was me dumb fault. Earlier in the day I attempted to clean the O2 sensor in bank 1 hoping that it would clear the P0135 code. I had forgotten that I did that, and happened to see a disconnected wire near that sensor. Plugged it in and the car started right up. Thanks for all your help guys!!!

You cannot clean an 0/2 sensor. All you can accomplish is to ruin the sensor trying to do that. There are dozens of different 0/2 codes. 90% of them are not even caused by the sensor.

Besides, that is a heater code. The heating coil is likely burnt out although it could be a fuse or wiring also.
