2001 Pulsar Wont start unless I Pull the Fuel Pump Fuse Sign In

2001 Nissan Pulsar 1.8ltr 270,000kms
Had a faulty Spark plug coil. Fixed that then a week later this. Car wouldn't start. Read somewhere about Bore wash. Put some oil in each cylinder then started straight away for 4 goes, then wouldn't start. Only way I can get her started is by pulling the fuel pump fuse and cranking it over. During this time it almost fires over but because its not getting fuel it won't, so I have to push the fuse back in at that point and it will start. Takes a few goes but I get there. At the moment I have wired in a switch to the fuel pump so I don't have to be on my hands and knees doing the fuse. Compression is good on each cylinder. Replaced the fuel regulator thinking return fuel was the issue. Getting fuel to rails and spark good. Intermittent idle issue as well ie if you just come to a stop without gearing down it will die, if you gear down its ok and sometimes idle is low. Any advice most appreciated.

You need to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and see what the fuel pressure does when you shut it off. If the rest pressure immediately starts to drop off you may have a leaking fuel injector.

Also check your oil level for being too high or smelling like fuel to indicate fuel draining into the crankcase.

Finally got a fuel pressure guage. 40 psi fuel pressure and holds with no drop. I think I will go down to my local pick a part and try an idle control valve to fule that out. Anyother suggestions most welcome

Use a scan tool to access the sensor data and look for anything out of spec, especially the temp sensors, both the ECT and IAT. If you can check them when the engine is dead cold before starting it, the two temps should match each other.
