My 2002 Ford Taurus SES has been parked for about 6 months now.All because something went wrong in the transmission.I was told by a trusted tranny mechanic that it is the torque converter. When you put it in gear it doesnt do anything it just sets there as if u were in neutral.I give it gas and the speedometer doesnt go up so i know it isnt the rear end or anything. And also when i run it,it seems to make a weird sort of a banging noise, not like its knocking but just a weird noise kind of sounds like its coming from the tranny. So i was afraid of messing something else up and so i took the battery out to keep it charged and havent started it since.Havent had the money to fix it yet,but i want a second opinion.I have never had any problems out of the car prior to this incident. The only part i have ever had to put on it is the coolant tank which i just put on about a month before it messed up.It has about 160k miles i think. Please someone tell me what you think it may be.Thank-You!
