2005 Honda Pilot. I was asked by a friend to change the brakes however both front and rear brakes have plenty left on them and all 4 rotors look good. The brake fluid is full. The guy told me that the brakes were slipping. I drove the car myself and it felt as if his brakes were not working fully as if they were worn down. He had the front brakes and rotors changed 9 months ago and at least half of the brake pad is still there. I suggested to him that it's possible that being that he lives in a very hilly area with steep curves that even though the brakes were "there" he might need to upgrade to a different pad. Was curious to what others might think.... thanks

If he rides the brakes a lot he might be experiencing brake fade. If the pads get overheated enough it can cause a glazing effect on the friction surface. I would say he needs to alter his driving habits a bit, and it wouldn't hurt to upgrade to a pad type more tolerant of temperature. But how firm is the pedal? Got to make sure the brakes are getting enough pressure to work
