I have an 05 4runner that is still under Manuf warranty. The right strut started leaking and they have ordered one to replace it. My question is, should the left one be replaced too when doing the right one? Or is it safe to say it will probably be OK?
I doubt they would do that anyway under warranty, as long as it is not leaking. Also, does the front end have to be aligned after replacing struts? Thanks a lot.

You can replace just one but it's always recommended to do these in pairs. Bet the warranty will only pay for one though, T

Yeah, I agree. But it only has about 28000, so this one really should not have gone bad yet. Hopefully the other one will be ok.

They can last a very long time but it's a good item to keep after. Ones that use flare nuts and metal lines don't like coming apart to replace if they haven't been touched for ages even if they are still filtering properly. Best to find it now and see if it's subject to getting corroded now while it should be fine. I like to smear some grease on the line and flare nut (if that's what's used) and they just aren't a problem later, T
