2005 Toyota Corolla Question

2005 Toyota Corolla with 97Kmiles. I recently had a mechanic do some maintenance on the car. I have two questions if someone can help me answer 1. They flushed my coolant system and now my heater does not work properly. It comes on with great heat and then blows cold air even if I have it on max heat. It also runs slightly better when I'm driving approx 60mph. Did they mess this up? It was working fine before they touched my coolant system. How did this happen? Should I be really pissed off at them??? 2. I asked them also to change/flush my transmission fluid and the mechanic there told me that they wouldn't recommend that if because of some mumbo jumbo about viscosity of fluid and that it might make the transmission worse etc. I am a car novice so I kinda took his word for it but then why do places like AAMCO advertise to have your transmission fluid changed??? I took my car when it had 37K miles to AAMCO and they "flushed" my system then. I'm pretty confused now... Thanks for any replies/help...

Question 1, It sounds like they may ot have gotten all the air pockets out of the coolant. Question 2, Your other car had 37K, This one has 97K. Big difference, but still may not rule you out. It depends on the condition of the current fluid. If the fluid is nasty and burnt smelling, it's already too late. If the fluid is still fairly clean, then it may be a candidate for fluid change. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thanks Hammer Time Question 1. Should I bring it back to them to fix this or is this something that will fix itself on its own? Unfortunately, I'm at work a lot and its a real pain to get to the mechanic.
