On test drive the car had a vibration. Figured I could handle any vibration. Bought it changed oil and plugs. Started at front for vibration. Vibration isn't severe but enough to rattle change in cupholder. Seems like motor mounts but only happens at the end of second gear at acceleration and maybe at the beginning of third gear. Motor mounts are good and no vibrations when power braking. Started at front. One lower joint was wore. Replaced both and maybe tie rod ends but are good none the less. Replaced 2 tires balanced all four. Aligned and had them spin the tires on the vehicle. Checked out good. Unnecessarily replaced left front driveaxle. Replaced transmission mount. Still vibrates. Went to the rear. Suspension good. I pushed up on drive shaft near diff. It seemed to be too easy to push up. Replaced differential mounts. Still seemed too easy. Went to dealership and looked at another same year model and it was the same. Checked 2007. Different design and lots firmer. Changed diff fluid. Checked run-out on drive shaft. Good. Removed drive shaft. And drove without it. Still vibrated which isolates it to the front. U joints both clicked when moving up and down so I replaced it. I looked at a couple of forums and heard that it could be a bearing on the transmission that is reasonably accessable. I don't want to go in that direction cause I've thought I found the problem too many times and I'm tired of shotgunning. The reason I'm ressurecting this is I just replaced the other 2 tires and was secretly hoping that could have been the problem. Any ideas? IDK for sure but don't think just "Brake Standing" as I know that idea is the answer to totally rule out "motor/trans" mounts. Other: AWD is going to require all tires and wheels have the same wear just amuse me and look at owner's manual about new tires and AWD set ups. If not all the same it's confused all the time can't know if all now are close enough after a year? Back to checking motor mounts a better way. Brake standing may or may not show the flaws so easily now after a year probably did cause a problem constantly trying to "differentiate" and coordinate all four wheels. There's still a host of maybe things that caused it nothing you've done made any difference so it seems maybe get this totally up overhead and really check it out or have that done to target the problem. More questions than answers for you it needs in person inspection with the complaint witnessed. End the parts tossing it just makes what you thought was OK but changed anyway those new parts in question just anyway. Is this a fixed wreck by any chance? That might explain a lot. All that should have been checked out before buying this car not a year later. It's just my opinion others can disagree all they want but I don't see why anyone wants to complicate a drivetrain with AWD if you wanted traction and really needed it get real 4X4 not this stuff especially used, T Charlymich User Aug 23, 2018, 7:05 PM Post #3 of 4 (1096 views) Re: 2006 CRV 2.4 AWD Sign In The manual says to replace wheels in pairs. All the parts I replaced were worn or showed signs of wear except for front driveaxle. So I don't regret the work that was done. I really believe the mounts are good. Rubber is healthy and bushings are solid. Replacing them would really start the shot gun diagnosis. I have decided to not proceed further until I have a concrete diagnosis. As the vibration isn't severe enough to cause collateral damage, my plan is to wait it out until it gets worse, Or I find a credible source that has had the same issue. Preferably from same model series. I believe it starts at 2003 and I know it ends at 2006. Another option is to bring it to a seasoned tech. But not ready to go to any more expense.
