2006 Dodge Caravan lock jammed Sign In

Purchased a used 2006 Dodge Caravan (3.3L V6 4-speed Automatic) last fall. Just rolled over 130,000km on it as of today. We've had a few issues with it, including the back passenger sliding door wouldn't lock using the key fob / door switch. It would have to be locked manually which was a pain! We ended up fixing that issue for a number of months but now it appears the lock is jammed. The lock will remain in the unlocked position and will not lock even if you manually press the lock down. The door switch from the inside is completely jammed but you can still open the door with no issues from the outside.

Any recommendations on how to fix this without spending a lot of money through a repair shop? We've already had to replace the alternator, water pump, power steering and other little items over the last year so we have sort of maxed out our budget for this van!

You're probably going to have to remove the sliding door trim panel and take a look at the lock actuator. Make sure it isn't being powered on in the unlock position continuously, make sure it hasn't seized up, or has some type of funky linkage issue going on with the latch assembly or lock rods. Another words your going to have to do a visual inspection.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

? Lock/latch inside as DS just said may have frozen beyond just lubing up when there inside can or should be able to move rods manually.
Some vehicles how exposed this is way too common making a routine of lubing locks and latches a few times a year necessary!
