2006 Malibu v6, 65,000miles - help please

new problem recently developed. When heater or AC is turned on, car runs very ruough, drags and nearly dies. When heater and/or AC is turned off, car runs fine. With hood hopen, having someone turn on heat, I notice a quick slowdown to almost a stop of the fan belt, then back to running fully, about every 5 seconds...

It's normal for the AC to drag the engine RPM down but the throttle control is supposed to immediately respond and compensate for it. It sounds like the throttle isn't responding fast enough. The could be a problem with the actuator but try cleaning it first. Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you with the key on and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

If I can figure out where the spots you mention are, I will do just that. Never had this problem until just a few days ago....I hate being ignorant in automotive issues that are not too complex...leaves people like me susceptable to getting ripped off... Thanks for your reply.

you missed my point "Hammer Time" In my 48 years of being an automotive consumer, I have rarely taken my car into to a shop/dealer, where they haven't added things beyond what was needed. I was expressing a feeling about a truth about your industry. You seam to be very insecure and lacking in introspection skills. As a result you want to hide behind a chat forum and judge and point your finger at someone else. For that I say good luck to you in all or your endeavors, you'll need it. Get off this forum then if you don't want to help people based on quick insecure judgements. Shame on you. You must be the pride of your family.

Ok, now you're just a total moron. I guess you need to find your help elsewhere. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

jkrueger6 jlrueger6: You asked for help. You got it for free from a volunteer. Then bash the entire trade that you claim you know nothing about and worse the person helping you. Gee, wonder why this thread is locked - any questions? Moron is mild. You dug your own ditch and no surprise you have no luck with getting a shop to fix your cars with that attitude, Tom
