2006 VW Passat 2.0T 60682 Recently had new cv boots put into my car. Since then the front end vibrates on acceleration. I took the car back to the mechanic who changed the cv boots and he said he thought the engine mounts needed to be replaced. I also had the tires rotated and balanced at another mechanic but the front end still vibrates. Am very dubious about the change engine mount diagnosis but I am now stumped. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

If the problem started right after the CV axles boots were done, then you have a CV axle causing your problem. One symptom of a cv axle vibration is the one your having right now. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Good to hear of the fix runner. Just a follow-up from me. Whole shafts are not all that expensive vs just boots and the labor to do just boots and by the time boots have split dirt has already been inside so not really a great way to fix that. They used to (hope not anymore) make boots you could install without taking shafts off! Not worth the rubber they are made of IMO and by the style, split with tiny nuts and bolts to zipper them on couldn't possibly last well. Again - I think the damage was done when it needed the boots. Glad it's fixed, T
