2007 Saturn Vue

I have an 07 saturn vue, while driving on the highway at speeds of 65+ for long distances, my car will almost "stall" - the rpm's drop, the car slows and you can push the gas pedal to the ground and nothing happens, it's a brief issue and then it returns to normal. I have taken it to the dealer twice now. The first time they told me it was the o2 sensor and the catalytic converter, but not even a month later it is happening again and this time the dealer can't find anything wrong and cannot "replicate" the problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

What kind of codes did the dealership come up with? If you don't know, have Autozone read them, any advice now would be premature, unless its a common problem in that year and make that someone here may know about. But the codes would help

I don't know if they got any codes honestly, they said everything was running fine and nothing came up on the computers.

The only thing that the computer wouldn't detected with the symthoms you describe ,not saying that it is the cause, but could be, is the fuel pump starting to go bad. Have you kept up with the regular matiance? Its hard to figure out these split second problems

Yes, that is the only saving grace right now is that the car is under warranty. Thanks for trying to help!

Hey..is this a 4 cylinder by some chance? There is a bulletin that addresses an acceleration sag or engine hesitation after a long downhill coast...don't know if it applies to your vehicle or not......bulletin # is 06-06-04-052...calls for a recalibration of the PCM just throwing it out there for ya... lets me/us know.... It is a 4-cyl and thank you for replying, I was speaking with another mechanic yesterday and he gave me the same bulletin, I sent it to the dealership, hopefully they can look into that as well.

And if the stealership says that the bulletin does not apply to your vehicle, double check with Saturn yourself. Nissan stealership tried to pull a fast one on a friend that kept having a headlight burn out. He kept changing it himself for he figured the $5 bulb and the time it took to fix it would be less than the wait at the stealership even though still under warranty. When he finally got tired of bulb after bulb, he learned there was a bulletin about this for his car. Guess what? The stealership said his car did not fall under the bulletin (by vin?). He called Nissan himself and found out differently! His car was indeed part of the bulletin and the stealership had the nerve to tell him there was no need to call Nissan. Xcuze you!?!? Stealership said no, Nissan said yes - I think it's pretty clear the stealership had no intention of properly serving the customer. Lesson to be learned....

HI there...worked in dealerships for years...let me tell ya...one bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch ... Dealership technicians when they run into a problem have all the necessary "tools" at their disposal to try and find/repair the concern...ONE of the first things they do is a bulletin search..... There have been times when a vehicle doesn't fall under the parameters of the bulletin..but yes it still could fix the problem...have seen this first hand...there are bulletins that come out to address concerns and as the next couple + years come the bulletins are "reissued"...superseded to add more vehicles/years/vins etc... While I agree that some guys are lazy..some dealerships are shady...thats not the norm....believe me...I have been in this business for 40 + years...seen it all.....People usually have ill feelings about service personel/dealerships because they usually see them when their cars "break" and the interuption to their lives is tremendous.... For the most part, technicians do have the customers best interest at heart...believe me its much easier to repair a car under warranty and call and say its fixed than to have to call and tell them the "bad news"/cost to repair... There have been times when there wasn't a "fix" for a problem ...we couldn't "reengineer "the vehicle...but we were told by the manufacturer that engineering was aware of the problem and were working on a fix....try having to explain that.......remember the dealership tech's don't manufacturer the cars, they are just on the front lines repairing them/representing the company...so give 'em a break... Sorry your friend had a bad experience...I could count on one hand the times something got by us... Consumers are under the impression that dealerships want to "hide" bulletins and recalls.....that is sooo far from the truth.....just the opposite.....you can't imagine the relief it is to a tech/mechanic /service writer...etc to find a bulletin that addresses and will fix the problem at hand...... Have a nice day... Lessons to be learned... JIm

I believe the point was to follow up with Saturn just in case the stealership is mistaken. I gave the example for my reasoning. I stated this stealership did not have the customer's best interest. No mention was made of all dealerships, most dealerships or some dealerships - I stated one and one only. Let's not make this a feeding frenzy for sharing one experience/opinion....after all, we're all here to help, right? Lesson to be learned....

Customer perception or in this case reader perception ....it's all in how its presented... I just went to bat for the countless times I have heard negative things like this.. I did not mean to disrespect anyone...your post certainly came across wrong for sure. You use the word "stealership"...maybe the person made a mistake...Lord knows we all do....I know you'll find this hard to believe...but yes even me...LOL.... We all can make a decision to go anywhere we want to spend our money.....or have warranty work done...If the place doesn't seem to know or want to co-operate,go to another dealer.... Yes,its known that the dealers are way more expensive that the independents....if you choose to go there, expect to pay more.... To put it in perspective...I know I can go have a quality steak dinner at one of the neighborhood restaurants and pay a fair price or I can go downtown to one of the very expensive steak restaurants and pay $50.00 + for just the steak alone with nothing else....its all in the choices we make...IS THIS A GREAT COUNTRY OR WHAT!.... How about the Doctors we all go to?...they can try medication after medication on you,if it doesn't work,oh well try again....if it affects you,too bad ,so sad,try another...do you get well? sometimes....BUT...nothing gets done about it....they can charge what they want...nothing gets done about it....NOW..heres the killer..... The human body hasn't changed in like a kabillion years...but yet they have trouble diagnosing us ..now I know its very complex and their learning more everyday but a car can change WHAT like 5+ times in just 1 model year... OK, I'm done....for now.... Not looking for a feeding frenzy at all....Just giving my opinions..... We ARE all here to help... Lessons to be learned...( new catch phrase?) Jim
