Hi fellas...first time poster My wife was out in our 08 Hyundai Veracruz. A few blocks from home, the battery light came on the dash, and steering became near impossible. I met her in our other car, she drove home in the 2nd car, I took the VC. Other than the steering, no major issues. Accelerating fine, no lights other than the battery. Once I got home, I check the PS resevoir, and it's full. There is some engine noise...nothing alarming, but just doesn't sound "right". Almost like it's misfiring. Now, the kicker- This car was in an accident about 4 weeks ago. Damage was about $10,000. My belief the only reason it was not totalled was the age/mileage of the car (under 3 years, about 26,000 mi). The impact was near the passenger side door/wheel well, the same side as the PS resevoir. My initial belief is this is a down the line result of the accident: something not caught during the inital repairs, but obviously damaged by the accident. Being it's Friday after 6p on the east cost, the shop that did the repairs is closed already. Eventually, it's going back there, but was hoping for some insight as to some potential reasons for the PS failure. Thanks in advance.

Possible belt failure. Check your belt that drives your accessories. If the belt is missing or isn't driving your accessories you shouldn't run the engine anymore till that is fixed. The water pump on the 3.8L is also driven by that belt. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
