2009 Ford Focus Misfires randomly
Now, if you can give me any sort of idea, that would be awesome. Ready for this mystery? I bought a 2009 Focus SES Coupe with a 2.0 Duratec and 5 speed manual transmission in December of last year. The day after I bought it, it felt as though it randomly was loosing power. Nothing would really change it. Took it back and told them that it was "hiccuping". They took it for a few hours and told me that it was the coils going bad. They replaced them on #1 and 2. Not 5 minutes after I got it back, it continued to "hiccup". Took it back again a few days later and they replaced coils #3 and 4, then returned it to me. No good. Later that week, it began to rain, and the rain made it worse. Became nearly impossible to drive as it would "hiccup" so bad it would nearly throw us out of our seats. Took it back and told them that. They kept it for about a week and told me they haven't found anything, and then gave it back. A week later, a big storm rolled through our area and it caused my car to finally throw a check engine light. Took it in and found out it is a code 0300. Random misfire on all cylinders. Let the dealer have it back for two weeks and they still haven't found anything. He says he has unplugged every sensor possible. Tested the throttle position sensor, and the fuel injection computer. I was driving it in 5th gear going up a hill at highway speeds. When I give it wide open throttle in 5th, it smooths out. What's wrong?

This is the funny part, it only threw the 0300. It never specified what cylinder because it is bouncing around. He drove it with the computer on it and it misfired on all of the cylinders.

If he knew what he was doing, he could track it down using mode 6. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

What do you expect us to tell you. Your "so called" Mastertech can't figure it out with all his knowledge and equipment and you want us to do it through out computer screen? It sounds like you need a different tech.

It is still covered under the dealers warranty, but they have had it 2/3s of the time I have owned it and not figured it out. I have taken it to a dealership of which I trust and they can't help me unless I pay them $80 an hour because they can't have it transferred to them. And I had expected some ideas.

hey Minchkin, did you ever or what did you figure out with your Focus misfire? I am having a similar problem and having trouble tracking it down...Mine is being called a coil B (cylinder 2) misfire but I replaced the coil and it did'nt help at all, bought new plugs , all wires checked for breaks and or cracks etc... it jerks or gallops after letting off of the accelerator and then getting back on it, just like yours did, it will clear up after high rpm's are achieved.
