2013 Kia Optima Hybrid Sign In

Having issues with my 2013 Kia Optima Hybrid.

Car was parked for 8 days while we were on vacation. Came back to the car having strange issues and no codes being thrown.

Car will drive decent for first 10-15 minutes, and then trouble ensues. Car will start to jerk randomly while accelerating, mostly at higher speeds. 50mph+
Car will also have same jerking motions while coasting as the car decelerates between 20-25 mph. On some occasions if you throttle the car while it jerks the rpms will jump to 6-7k rpm. When car jerks as you slow down you can get it to smooth out if you tap the brakes. That works every time. Transmission goes through all gears fine prior to the issue popping up. Manual mode makes no difference in behavior.

It also on a few occasions has gone into limp mode while trying to accelerate and the car will not go above 20mph.

There are no issues driving it back and forth to work for 5 or so minutes at a time.

Any insight is appreciated as I am second owner and no warranty applies.

There will absolutely be stored codes for this issue. the problem is your equipment isn't capable of accessing them.
These codes most likely will be in the TCM. Limp mode by definition is the computer reverting to a preprogrammed basic application due to electronic codes being stored.

I should have reiterated when I stated “limp mode”. The car would not exceed 20mph until it was pulled over and put into park. Then it proceeded to drive fine again. Will those codes still be stored in the tcu?

Yes, if you didn't disconnect the battery or clear them.

Being that this is a hybrid you need to be extremely careful. It carries enough voltage to electrocute you in a heartbeat.
