2015 Chev Traverse LTZ V-6. Started with a Coolant sensor code so I changed it. The temp started to rise and changed the Termostat. That worked fine for about a week. Temp starts as it warms up to 210-220 and stays there but will creep up to 240-250ish when parked and idle. It will go back down to 210-220 when traveling or I can turn off air and slowly goes back to normal temp. It goes up and down like that. A few things possible- When changing sensor I broke the clip on the plug part. It still fits in snuggly with some grease. Second thing is when changing Termostat. I took off radiator cap to take out a gallon of fluid. Would they have an air bubble in the system? Last when changing the oil, they added radiator fluid in the resovior. It’s almost all the way to the top. Seems like they overfilled it? So would it be worth $120.00 to get a coolant flush? Any help would be appreciated.

Air in the system is always a possibility and it can be hard to burp out. One thing you do have to understand though is it will always get hotter at idle because the cooling fan is programmed to do that. It is programmed to come on around 226-228 degrees. 250 is definitely too hot though.

Another possibility is that your fan has a 2 speed system and it's always possible you have lost low speed. That would have to be determined and diagnosed. If that were the case, it would do a lot of damage to your AC compressor also.

I see the bottom line is 160, middle is 210, and top is 260. Can’t figure out the temp lines between 210 and 260? In the pic is this considered running hot? This is at idle parked with car running. It will creep up to the next line and that it. It goes back to 210 while running on the road. Trying to add pic to show you what I am taking about.

You can't really rely on those dash gauges. It would be better to look in computer data with a scan tool and compare the IAT and ECT temps before starting to make sure ECT is accurate.
