We have the car mentioned above, around 107,000 miles. We have noticed the last year, our low oil light will come on. I’ll check it and no oil on the stick. I go get the oil change, it’s good for about 3 months and the light goes on, check it and nothing again. I’ve checked and no obvious signs of leaks and I had it checked when I get the oil change and they haven’t found anything. I’m not sure what else to try. Thanks for the help!

It's possibly within norms? How many miles of what type has the car gone before you read nothing on a dipstick only prompted by a warning light? Sure, check for any and all leaks or evidence of one or more. It's quite possible the dipstick will not touch oil to read when a 'quart' low or so? Car could also be just shut down oil hasn't returned yet or on a slope or angle. Engines should be able to operate normally when DOWN about that quart and marked on dipsticks. You do need to know why it may not be so easy just yet. I suggest checking it, cold engine before start up know it's level ground and see the full mark and oil match. That would be after the oil change if properly filled with exact amount is accurate then. Now see how fast it goes down by the day, week or a couple weeks on a schedule by yourself not reliant on a sensor. That info will matter if no other complaints are found or evidence of leaking or burning it, T

Regardless of whatever is causing the oil loss, you should be checking your oil level far more often and not running it until it doesn't read on the stick. If you keep that up, the oil loss won't matter because you will need a new engine. Those are not"time to check your oil" lights, they are emergency lights. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
