gentlemen, i was looking at the new Toyota Tacoma at my local dealership. the smallest engine available is the 2.7 24valve DOHC with 160hp. no 22R available in the Tacos. the 22R is a good engine. all Toyota had to do was create the tooling for a DOHC cylinder head for the 22R. the 22R with a DOHC would run sweet. with the high cost of fuel why spend the money and time to develope a new motor when Toyota had a winner with the 22R. is the 22R discontinued or not in the Tacos?

Why don't you write them a letter and tell you you want the engine that they haven't made in 8 years. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
