Hi i have just had 2nd hand motor put into my 1995 mazda 626 and was wondering what exactly i get as i have a 12 month warranty and have been back 3 times to mechanics with issues with it. Lately on start up the lights on dash dim & car sounds like has flat battery then after few goes fires up. Had nrma come and have look & they tested battery and it was fine & this only started happening after they did repairs on it last week as it had oil leaks. Im sure the mechanics are fed up with me but im really over what i have gone through with my car. Any help would be appreciated thanks

You have to realize what your limits are here. You purchased a used engine and you have to accept the fact that it is a used item and will not perform as new and was never represented to do so. The guarantee you have is basically for complete engine failure and even then, the labor is likely not included as most junkyards will give a replacement motor only and that one may even be worse that the one you have now. The shop that installed it is further responsible for a quality installation which means any problems that were actually caused by them would be their responsibility and any existing problems with your car would be your responsibility. There are risks to be taken when buying a used engine. If you want perfection, go the extra mile for the remanufactured engine and include replacing all external wear items like belts hoses, radiator, ignition components, etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
