86 toyota idle problems Sign In

hey guys, got an 86 ,22R carbureted that dies when the t-stat opens. just did timing chain and head gaskets along with plugs, wires and cap etc.it only does it once and starts back up like nothing ever happened.it never did it before all the work. aap is good and egr stalls engine when vacum is applied. vacum lines are correct according to the manual.
any advise???

If it runs fine after you restart it maybe you just need a carb. or choke adjustment. The only other thing I can think of is maybe the coolant temp. sensor is out of range.

Hey Steve: got it fingered out, it was the throttle positioner, apparently it got bumped or something during the overhaul. It was out just enough to go to "0" idle when it opened.
