89 ranger will not run

I have an 89 ranger with a 2.9 fuel injected engine that will not run I have to constantly pump the gas pedal for it to stay running and then it only runs between 500 and 900 rpm. If you give it constant gas it dies and if you don't pump it at all it won't start. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, idle control valve, fuel injectors, plugs and wires, distributer cap and rotor. It is getting 40 pounds of fuel pressure at the fuel rail and has fresh fuel in it. It doesn't seem to be throwing any codes either as the check engine light isn't on. I'm at a loss since I know the truck is getting fuel spark and oxygen. Please help.

Let me clear up 2 things for you
- Pumping the throttle on a fuel injected car does nothing but exercise your foot.
- You can still have codes stored without the check engine light coming on.

I'm not pumping the gas to get it to start but rather pumping it to keep it running.

You are NOT pumping fuel with your foot a t Hammer Time said rather you are just changing the amount of air that passes thru throttle body - the fuel is delivered based on many factors. At the age, known fuel and spark and doesn't stay running next is compression and check valve timing as chains can even fail or jump valve timing which will show as low compression on all cylinders. A FORD code reader you may have to look for, for this vintage but doubt it will help you much vs some common checks first. IDK who will still have the code reader but ask. Should only be about $25 bucks or less by now - own one and it's useless info IMO vs a plain DVOM for some checks. Back: Two common faults with age and this vintage will be valve timing or excessive exhaust back pressure to check for, T

Have you checked for an exhaust restriction? Maybe a back pressure test or disconnecting the down pipe to see if it will run better is worth a try. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
