90 Celica misfire

I have a 90 Celica that runs rough. Sometimes it doesn't start, I ground a spark plug wire and it starts, this has happened about 6 times. One time it wouldn't start by grounding a spark plug wire and I checked spark at the coil and I got no spark coming out of the coil. I put everything back together and it started. I have 2 coils and both act the same. The check engine light is not on, Is this an ECM problem? What could be other problems? Thanks....

First ensure that your battery connections both power and ground are clean, with no corrosion, shiny contacts and tight. Do both ends, not just up at the battery. You need to check your injectors for pulse when this problem is occuring. If its running even bad parts will test good. Make sure the plugs going into your coil packs are tight and free of corrosion. If you have no spark and no injector pulse, you are likely looking at a cam/crank sensor issue.
