Thank you for looking over my problem. Let me say that it is s 1991 Chevy Tracker (soft top). The engine is a 1.6l and an automatic trans. with 270 thousand on it.. I guess the best way to describe what its doing is to give you the story of the last few days. Day 1: Did my daily running around with out any problems at all. Stopped at my local home depot, when I got back to start the car, nothing. Lights seemed to be fine, wipers worked well (not slowly). I wasn't hearing anything from the starter, not a click, not turning over, nothing. Called a tow company, jumped it, and it started right up. $55.00 later. Day 2: Pretty much the same. Strangely enough, back to home depot I want, and again, same problem. Not turning over, no click from the starter, nothing. Being close to home, pulled the battery, brought it home and threw it on the charger. When I did that, the charger instantly said the batter was fully charged. still left it on a 2 amp charge for a few hours. Brought the battery back, installed it, and it fired right up. For a while, I just thought it was Home Depot. Day 3: Actually, it was 2 days later. Got into the car, started right up. Went about 3 miles, and stopped at the local coffee shop. Got back in the car, and again, the same problem. Got some help from a few other, and tried the jump start. Nothing happened. With the jumpers on, no click from the starter, no turning over. The car that was jumping showed no sign of trying to charge my car. Left the car there over night (didn't care at that point) and walked home.. The next morning, walked back to the car to call a tow truck, sat in the car, put the key in and it fired right up like nothing was wrong. the last few days, its been starting up from home, but now when I do my running around, I leave the thing running. Anyone, any ideas at all. I don't really want to have a $200 shop bill to tell me its something simple, and then pay them to put what ever it is in to it. And I don't want to start guessing at what it is and start replacing parts that aren't need. Any help or guidance at all would greatly be appreciated.. Thank you..

The obvious thing to do right now is have the battery charged and tested. The charger can't tell you anything about the condition of the battery. Once you have a known good battery, then have the charging system tested. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thank you.. Its not a bad idea to go to my local battery place and have it check for quality. But really does not explain why when using jumper cables, it didn't help. There was still no turning over, or click from the starter. But checking the batter is a place to start.
