My 92 protege lx has been sitting all winter. Went to start it today with no luck. Engine will crank but won't fire. Engine fired with starter fluid but then dies. Gas Tank is atleast half full but it seems like it's not getting fuel. It ran perfectly fine when it was parked in October. It was stored outside.

I'll state the obvious here.....looks like you have a fuel problem... You can check the pump and make sure you are getting power back there while cranking the engine....If you have a noid light you can check for injector pulse.. Cover the basics......get a test light and check all your fuses.......Try banging on the tank with some thing heavy while someone cranks the engine, if this gets it to start, it's a good indication you have a bad fuel pump...

So I Have Checked The Fuses Which Are Good, Checked For Power To Pump Which Is Good, And Tried Banging On Tank While Starting With No Luck.

Well, if you have verified power supply and ground to the pump, which I'm not so sure that you have, then you have a bad pump or an empty tank of gas. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I'm curious here. Where did you access the wires to test the power and ground to the pump? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Under the rear seat where the access to the tank is.

So I replaced the fuel pump and it fired right up. After running for about 10 Mins idling it stalled. Now when try to start, and it fires then stalls out. If I get it to rub, when I step on the gas it bogs out.

Need to verify fuel pressure using a fuel pressure gauge. You'll need adapters to connect it to the fuel system. Best place is to T the gauge between the fuel filter and the fuel rail. Fuel pressure specs is 38-46 psi while cranking the engine. Fuel pressure at rest (with pump off) should stay above 21 psi. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
