93 Topaz fuel related problem Sign In

1993 Topaz 2.3L
The car is working fine until it is driven for approx 1 hr or 30+ miles, then it begins to bog down - cough & sputter and then ckoke out. Fuel filter has been replaced and gas is flowing fine through it. After an hour or so of cooling down, the car starts up fine and away you go.
I've been told that it is probably a fuel pump overheating and should be replaced. Just checking if anyone knows anything about a problem like this ?

Also, is there trap door to the gas tank for these vehicles or mustt he tank be taken down and the pump replaced that way ?
