95 ranger front dif

I recently noticed that the front dif on my 95 ranger was leaking. i set out to repair it but i am having trouble pulling the carrier. I have removed the 7 or so bolts that would normally hold a dif cover (the driver's side i-beam handles this job) and also pulled both axles. i'd like to think that this is all that holds the dif to the vehicle but it wont budge. i neglected to remove the front driveshaft because i figure the play in the slip-yoke will be suffice to lower it. it should certainly not keep me from at least freeing the carrier. any help would be good.
