I own a 96 Camry and it runs fine its just when you are in first gear hit the gas then stop, all in first gear the car stalls out(turns out). i took it to the mechanic and first he increased the resting rpm. Then i changed the intake hose then cleaned out the throttle body. recently my mechanic changed a couple sensors including the ETC sensor and the problem continues.... any ideas of what else i can try to fix?

Not sure you ever can adjust "idle" speed you called "resting RPM" is done by control modules. Code readings but now get the adjustment that was attempted put back where it was or that's a new problem. Initial issue could be lots of things you check some but think a vacuum leak, hose, gasket item high on the list up to fully checking it out but begin with a full code reading. If nothing and have the right equipment it may be dragging a worn/broken clutch if you mean 1st gear this is a standard shift? T
