This could get long, this car is sitting now, but I would still like some insight on what in the world coul be wrong with it. It has 242,000 Mi, but everything works fine. When we used to drive it, it would be going along fine and then all of a sudden have no power, as in would not accelerate. The thermostat had been changed, even though the temp gauge said it wasn't hot. We always had to pull over and let it sit in order for it to go again. It never did this in cool weather, just in the summer. A ford garage told us it could have been the transmission range sensor..we never bothered with it anymore..too many miles and not safe to drive. It's almost like it was stalling, and if you kept going eventually it would just die..but it would just decelerate, decelerate, more and more, until you pulled over. Any suggestions?

That sounds like a plugged up Catalytic Converter. The mileage you have would make it real possible too. You would have to either disconnect the exhast when the problem is present or test the exhaust pressure with a gauge in the O/2 sensor hole. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
