I am trying to replace the radiator in my 97 Explorer. I have the radiator disconnected all but where it is attached to the AC cooler. Do I have to break the lines to the cooler and subsequently have to recharge the AC or is there a way to separate the cooler from the radiator. This vehicle has a V8 engine and is an automatic. Any advice, diagrams , instructions or illustrations will be greatly appreciated

You shouldn't have to evac the system to remove the radiator. A lot of systems the condensor is attached to the radiator. The best thing to do is lean the rad forward and see where the attaching bolts are. Some have 4, 2 top 2 bottom. Some have a couple on the top and slots it fits into on the bottom. Some are a pain where you have to go thru the grill with a swivel or stand on your head and twist your wrist in ways you would never thing possible...... And when putting it back and you ask yourself the question.......Does this really need 4 bolts to hold it, wouldn't 2 be just fine????? The answer is YES...it needs 4 & NO 2 isn't just fine.....
