1997 Subaru Legacy L 2.2 83,000 Car is idling perfectly and you can rev it up without any issues while its in park. But as soon as I put it in drive its like there is no gas getting into the engine, I can put the pedal all the way down and nothing happens, the car just lags, then after a few seconds the car will start to go. It will do this for five minutes or so then the car will run fine and not do the hesitation thing again until after a lengthy stop at a red light or it sits for a few hours turned off. Ive recently changed the plugs and wires, checked the fuel and air filter and mass air flow sensor. I cant get a diagnostic because there is a broken pin in my OBDII that I havent replaced yet. Most people are stumped by this problem and cant figure it out.

You really should fix the OBD2 connector, so you can see if there are any codes stored and to look at data stream information (if you have the capabilities). Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
