I have a 1997 Yukon w/5.7 that will not start, it is not getting fuel I checked the relay it is ok but before I can check the fuel pump it starts this has happened three times. What do you think what is there other than the pump that can cause that?? Will a fuel work on and off ??

It does sound like the fuel pump, but it may also be your fuel filter. Change that, its less expensive and a little easier. If that dont work, you know where you stand.

I will replace the fuel filter and check the old one for debris, but the filter is not that old. the problem occurs after the truck has been sitting, at least so far not when driving do you think a fuel filter would restrict the flow more after driving not after sitting overnight ?? thank you for your help

Next time it does not start, turn the ignition to the "on" position for 2 or 3 seconds. Turn key off, then back on for 2 or 3 seconds. Turn key off and back on for 2 or 3 seconds then try to start. If it starts normally then, the check valve in fuel pump is starting to fail. That means fuel pump is in your future. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
