VW Beetle - stalling and rough idling problems.

I have a 1998 VW Beetle - base (non turbo). We replaced the Battery, coolant and temperature sensors, spark plug wires, spark plugs, fuel filter and fuel pump. (As I am driving the car loses power and slows down turns off.) As I am having this stalling (no power) problem and I pull over to the side of the road the car will completely turn off. I will then re-start the car and drive again for about 1.5 - 2.0 miles and it does the same thing. I try and give it gas as it is stalling and the car does nothing. Someone suggested using Chevron fuel injector cleaner and then driving it to see if it will clean it out. Please help - broke and in despair. Frown

Have it checked for codes and post the code numbers here.

At the present time the check engine light is not on. Will any codes show up if a mechanic hooks it up for diagnostics?

Yes, if the computer hasn't been cleared they will still be in memory.
