i replaced the intake manifold on my 98 lincoln town car(4.6 liter) and now it wont turn over. when i turn the key, the crank pulley makes about a quarter rotation then stops, not like a dead battery but like something is stuck. the car was driving fine prior to repair(other then the overheating due to cracked manifold) but now something is wrong. i even tried manually cranking it with a ratchet but again, it would go more then about a quarter turn. all ideas greatly appreciated.

If your lucky you may have gotten a small amount of coolant down into a cylinder. It can cause a thing called hydro-lock. Remove all spark plugs and see if it will turn by hand .If it does turn several complete times, give it several spins with the starter to expell fluid, reinstall plugs .Now for unlucky . If it does NOT turn by hand with plugs out you may have a major problem . Odds are that something(screw ,rivet, washer, pebble, etc, went down a runner and has parked itself on top of a piston. This will prevent that cylinder from completing its stroke . If you think this may have happened,DO NOT FORCE ENG TO TURN . It will split the piston and cyl wall like an overripe melon. let us know results of test and we will go from there. LIFE'S SHORT GO FISH
