98 mustang v6 taking longer to start

98 mustang v6 taking longer to start Sign In

the car seems to run fine once started, its just taking longer to start each day, started out around 2 seconds and progressivly up to about 8 now. Am i on the right track thinking dirty spark plugs or blocked fuel injectors or is something else the problem. It has continued to start every time so it shouldn't be something major, more of an annoyance but my gf is afraid its going break soon and leave her stranded some place. she losing confidence in her car

If this just happens after a long time without running it could be injector leakdown. If so, try holding the key in just "run" position for a while till you hear the fuel pump pressurize and then it will probably start right up. That could also be that the fuel pump is unable to keep up proper pressure so a pressure check is in order. I doubt this is regular tune-up type items,
