99 Suburban right headlights dim???
|
|

I have a 99 chevy suburban 2500, 7.4L Last night coming home the right head light got real dim, figured it was the bulb. When I got home I flipped on the high beams, right side still real dim, as is the marker light. I've seen this on trailers before and it usually is a bad ground, Is there a separate ground for each side, or is there something going on in the switch?

This is where the headlights are grounded On the radiator support, near the left side headlamp ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I'm fairly sure its the dimmer / turn signal switch. I noticed that when the high beams are on the low beams are also on but very dim, And when the low beams are on the high beams are also on but again very dim. Also the right turn signal doesn't want to work, It just dimmly lights the bulbs but no flash, left side works fine. Bulbs all work with the Hazard so I'd say the bulbs are good.

I don't know. You're the one jumping to these conclusions. I just didn't feel like debating you. You haven't even identified which of 3 different headlight circuits your truck has yet. The ground for the right side is behind the battery if you're interested. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I'm having a similar issue; dim low beams, properly bright highs. I've read about the drl/low beam issues, and now I'm wondering, since the previous owner had the entire steering wheel and dash apart for computer changeout, that he did something to the relay or wiring with the lows/drls? I cleaned them up, but they are still dim. I want to check the grounds out, bc it seems like that might have something to do with it, but since he's gone into the steering column, I'm prone to think that's where the problem is. Any guidance here will be greatly appreciated. Wendell
