Re: ABS Light Sign In

Not sure on a 1992 now 20 years or so what you might find for any codes to assist what area it thinks is the fault. All vehicles that I know of default to regular non ABS function if all else is right about brakes.

This is likely a disc front, rear drum set up. If fluid never dropped below norms it could just be connections or with drum brakes dust/dirt filings can't get a signal properly thru the dirt.

If the brakes have zero signs of not working properly as regular brakes I'd look for connections and dirt first - blow them clean with compressed air may be all and if all checks you may have to hunt for someone or a place that still can read codes for that. If brakes don't behave now it needs tending to ASAP,

Re: ABS Light Sign In

  1. Stop Engine.
  2. Turn ignition switch on and ensure anti-lock warning light comes on.
  3. Restart engine and check anti-lock warning light.
    1. If light goes off, there is no problem with anti-lock brake system.
    2. If light comes back on proceed to step 4.
  1. Stop engine.

  1. Disconnect the service check connector from connector cover located under the dash on the passenger side of vehicle. Connect both terminals of service check connector with a jumper wire.
  2. Turn ignition switch on, but do not start engine.

Record blinking frequency of anti-lock brake system indicator light. Blinking frequency indicates problem code
