Added to much oil, help! Sign In

I have a 1994 Chevy pick-up, 6 cyl. 4.3. I checked my oil to soon after I shut off the truck. All the oil must not have drained down into the pan. I added two quarts of oil when all I need was only one. My dip stick reads that I'm over a quart. Should I drain the extra quart out of the motor?

if you have a fluid extractor you can suck it back up the dipstick. or yea, just drain a little bit at a time out of the drain plug until the proper level is reached

The extra needs to be removed somehow.

I'd personally just open the drain plug and let some out into a clean pan.

If you removed to much, put some of the one from the clean pan in.
