Antifreeze on drivers side Sign In

I have a 2001 dodge dakota sport 4X4 v8 has always had a faint antifreeze smell but no visual leaks while driving the other day I noticed steam coming out of the vents and after I got it stopped I noticed antifreeze pouring out from under the dash on the drivers side. I'm familiar with core leaks but passenger side was completely dry any advice is appreciated

Hope you are using antifreeze. If you smell the distinct odor it's real. Steam like coming out of vents is only normal once in a rare while. If the heater core the windows will fog and not clean off well or easily is about conclusive of a bad heater core.

Situations of condensation thru temps all over the place it would be just plain water and eventually go away but you are smelling it.

If both that and a leak on engine find traces of it while not running and cooler engine with mirrors or what ever works. Run a finger under hoses or areas that have coolant there or nearby. If a "freeze" plug and can be the trouble is the suggested long time fix it change them all which frequently would mean taking the engine out on top of a pretty clear heater core job.

Hard to say but a lot of this comes from lack of changing coolant out regularly and starting now doesn't fix that,

You have a bad heater core. Nothing else is possible.
