Are these tires alright? Sign In

I just bought a 1996 Dodge Neon for my son. The guy I bought it from just put on a new rear tire, but it needs another one. I looked at the size of the tires and the two front and the other bad rear are P185/70/14. The new tire the guy just put on is a P185/65/14. Should I just buy another 65/14 tire for the rear, or should I buy two new 70/14 tires and keep them all the same size?

all four tires sizes should be the same size the vehicle manufacture recommends for the car.

brand of tire doesnt have to match on all four corners. as long as both tires on the same axle match youll be fine

Is there a big differnce in the size of a 70 and 65? Is the 65 a lot wider than the 70?

Yes it is. I just went out and bought another 70's size tire to keep them all the same size. I'll just try and sell the new 65, don't know if they're to popular or not.

Not sure os it's popularity but it's important more now than ever to have all tires the same and proper size and absolutely same on each axle set to include both with similar amounts of wear.

Trying to recall the formula for the 65 # used and I'm pretty sure that indicates the % of height as it is wide so the lower #s are wider tires and enough to change the overall circumferance of the tire which can confuse some controls and would alter overall handling,
