CV Joint
Hey everyone... I have replaced the driver side CV Joint 3 times on my 2002 Caravan. And I still get that very distinguishable popping noise. Is there anything else that could cause that same noise? I just can't believe I have put 3 different brand new CV Joints on and they are all bad. One of them was from Napa, one from CarQuest and one from AutoZone. What is you guys take on this? Thanks, John

Biggy - Please dump that sign off it's not allow to do that at this place: Onward as this is just your post not on another's already removed one. If you are sure of CV noise on a 3rd does the exact same perhaps it's the other side as noise like that can travel. When you have a suspect shaft out you probably can tell that one is/was the real source problem. Wheel bearings could make similar assorted noise has to be ruled out do not go by just sitting still while hoisted expecting any play or feel it probably has none then if the problem, T

Is the noise you are hearing just a single snap when shifting or multiple snaps when accelerating around a corner? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Exactly as a bad CVJ would sound. Not a single snap or pop. A popping noise when turning sharp turn at slow speed. I think mostly in one direction. Goes away once wheels are straight.

Thanks for the reply. Actually... I replaced BOTH sides and it is very easy to tell the noise coming from the driver side. Wheel bearings are very tight with no slap or play. Thank's John

Just this comment - quote "> Wheel bearings are very tight with no slap or play.< That's not conclusive? Bearing that carry that much load would fail under loads but not when spun hoisted with no load. Many you just about can't tell a bad one till it's out in your hands spinning one! PITA that way. If one had any "slap" or "play" it's probably about to wildly fail which removes all doubt it was in fact the problem. BTW, I'll remove blank post this site goes to an error page but your posts are there is just a quirk of the site no you, T
