Camry 1999 won't start.Please help Sign In

My Toyota Camry 1999(V4) suddenly didn't start lastweek. Everytime, I try to start, it sounds like "tit tit tit" without cranking sound. I guest the problem is its starter. I tried to replace a new starter yesterday but the problem still persist. I also tried to jump the battery from other car but not successful. I check my battery is still good and all the lights, horn, are working normal. Do you have any ideas? Please help me......

Thank you,

Generally the multiple clicks is low power from the battery. Bad connections usually just give you one click. If this battery is original it can't be much good.

Jumping doesn't always get a good connection so try that again with two sets of cables if you can and that will prove the battery is weak if it works Checking for voltage while off, then trying, and when running is good info too, T

Tom,

Thank you very much, you are the man.!!!! I found out the problem is my battery. Last time, I tried a jump start with the wire connector from car still connected to battery. Today I tried a jump start without connecting to car's batery but directly to a good battery. The car started right away. Run to local auto part store, bought a new battery. Now everything is good.
I just wonder, why there is difference between a jump start with/without connecting to car's battery? I thought there isn't any difference?

Thanks again.

This must be battery week! Glad it worked out.

About jumper cables: The set I have cost a fortune and grab so hard with heavy gauge wire fine mesh they will start about anything even if it didn't have a battery. Many jumper cables are much weaker and don't transfer full power from the donor car. Most folks don't need that grade but at least medium quality helps.

That's why I said use two sets if possible and again glad to hear your back up and running, T
