Is it true that I can save up to 20% gas by getting a cover for my truck bed ?.. I have an 8ft bed

I really don't know but didn’t Myth Busters do a segment on this.Wink
Sorry couldn’t help myself but think about it; 20% if that were true you wouldn’t see an open truck bed on the highway.
Just an opinion.

yes mythbusters did... they showed that driving with a truck bed door closed actually creates a pocket of air, with eliminates a lot of the resistance on the truck.

I would think that a cover may help but due to this show It may be a little worse (which is hard to believe)

I've seen a lot of trucks drive around with tail gate open no doubt for this reason. Don't know if that's legal and I own an 8' bed truck but have never tried. I've always had a full load and wanted the gate up. Bet it does nothing around town to leave it down.

It would be my luck to back into something with it down and spend mega bucks to fix that damage. For the little driving fast (highway) I do I don't bother. Let us know if you try something and it works, T
