my girls car battery was dying every couple days and would start with a jump right away . now it will not start with a jump in fact seems like the battery has a charge. When turning the key silent no click or turnover. no accessories seem to come on either however the headlight and dash lights are bright. Is this the alternator or starter ?

The first step is to have the battery charged and tested. Once you have a known good battery, then check all the maxi fuses and fusible links. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Bill, tried new starter relay that others thought was the problem. Did not work still no sound at all when trying to start. tried jumping again also didn't work. Battery seems to have power everything except the radio works. Any other ideas?

ok tested battery and replaced it based on advance autos testing. Then found the 20 amp start/fuel fuse was blown. Replaced it and it started right up. Great ! No ! the fuse blew again today replaced it and started up right away again. What could cause this and will it keep happening. Do not want my girl to get stranded. Your help is deeply appreciated, Don

You have a defective component that feeds its power from that fuse. I don't have the diagram for that one myself, but I'm sure one of the guys does and will be posting it for you. You will need to check each component and wiring that uses that fuse for power to find out why it is shorting to ground. Do not replace that fuse with one rated higher hoping it won't blow. That will cause too much amperage in a circuit not made to handle it and possibly create a fire. At minimum it would make your repair much more expensive than it needs to be.
