Car hesitates on slow accelerating
|
|
|
Hello, here is my car: Ford Fiesta 1.4 tdci 2002 - 190000 Kilometers(I don't know if they're real) And my problem is this for a long time I have this problem and it is when accelerating slowly the car hesitates (like the engine shakes with knocking sound) sometimes this happens when driving at the same speed for example 55 km/h. If I hit the pedal hard the car hesitates disappear. I had cheap diagnostic tool which I used and get p0200 error... I wen to mechanic shop too to scan the car with good bosch tool which showed what injector 2 and 3 spray was not correct. I found second hand injectors from Fiesta 2007 which was crushed and swap all four injectors. When went for test drive the car running was the same without improvement. I tested with my cheap scan tool again p0200. Please can you suggest a tip what could I check? I am trying to find the problem by myself now. Thanks!

Since there is no codes that would tell you a spray is incorrect, what test did he run to determine that or what codes did he find? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Well I am not sure, the tool he used was this or something like this -> http://www.moderntiredealer.com/_Images/news/Bosch-Diagnostics-KTS-340.jpg The exact words which he said were "The injectors 2 and 3 inject the wrong amount of fuel" or something in this context.

And I'm telling you that he couldn't know that by looking at codes or data in the scanner so unless he ran an injector balance test using a fuel pressure gauge, he's guessing.

Oh, I understand :/. So maybe I just waste my money for now. Could you guess what should I check with this p0200 error.

I think you meant intermittent except for holding that exact speed it was more likely - right? Had some time to surf for how it could be and since you have two different sets of injectors doing same found it actually suggested wiring common to them was likely! Chaffed was mentioned against hood. Not a chance I could find more as the car isn't sold here TMK under a different name perhaps with same set up and code reading or even same plug in for all I can know. Chances are a noid light or plain ohm testing may have shown which cylinders were at fault and not the code reader itself but if so then your mechanic probably would suggest those two were bad?? T

The P0200 is just a generic code that indicates there is an electrical injector issue somewhere. It doesn't tell you anything specific so the whole system have to be gone through looking for the issue. This is probably beyond your ability and/or equipment.

Hey - I was just searching the world like you were and that came up! Also for ohm testing one by one no specs known to me but should all be about the same and just common sense says if those two are the same with different injectors it's wiring. Why rubbing or something? I have no real clue there except engine does move some on mounts and that speed may be the exact load to move just the precise wrong spot?? Curious > why is it you don't think the KMs on it are correct or any chance not correct? I had time and made the time as it was that or scrape paint which doesn't sound like as much fun as searching for you too

I will do the ohm test these days but I don't understand the abbreviation KM, what stands for?

Oh, ok.. this make sense. Well the car is second hand and this is common problem with the second hand cars here, they import them here with no real kilometers.

Sorry about that. I'll spell out more as needed. Wonder about how many kilometer is because it's hard to fudge(alter) on most anything for older than this car too. This is a diesel 1.4 Liter 4 cylinder right? Still by year 2002 there should be lots of functions on this for controlling fuel delivery and any but diesels in particular need their high compression intact more than gasoline engines but codes leading to fuel delivery I'm not sure would have the same symptoms you have described. Try what you can at least rule out. If more tools and equipment than you already can use are needed you just may need more help up to chasing wires by color and ZERO info possible from me on that. See what you can find being careful not to make anything worse at least, Tom

Yes, it is 1.4 liter 4 cylinders. Thanks for the tips, I will write once I go further with this.

Hello, I have some family issues so not much time for the car. But today I looked at the wiring to the injectors, one injector's wire is stripped a very little. Here is photo: It doesn't touch anything but I am wondering could this be a problem?

Hmmm? If nothing else nice pic and worth noting this discovery. Does that happen to be one of the cylinders involved? I'd be inclined to say it is and possible that it's been moved around enough at little age to me really that insulation got some trauma OR harness to it moves somehow? Is that insulation also poked as in a sharp end of a probe has been pushed into it a few times also? OK - I would want to fix this as it can't be helping anything plus leaves the wire open to the elements. Guess I'd noid* light it and check if wiggling on it matters or changes it but also be ready or know how and where to replace it if plain touching it really breaks it so you can get out of a jam. This is a "noid" light............ < Pic was there? Cheap (here) or perhaps rentable set. Can't know what is available to you of course. Use all caution if you play with that one in particular now. If testing with a voltage tester definitely only use an LED (light emitting diode) type instead of an incandescent type light. Unsure what damage might be possible testing if not the proper noid light for that specific car and injectors. LED draws so little they are always safer. Under $10US for basic ones. Handy for lots of other things too........ Many different styles but that type one I like. Hope these pics show or I'll try harder, T

Well maybe is nothing but I will try Tom Greenleaf's suggestion these days. Finding rentable noid light would be hard here but I will go to some service who could do that to see what will happen.

Yes - not so worried about what I see just that how that happened or just lousy grade of wire. There's no way to know what's available for assorted testing so your service people are going to be needed. If rentable anything for this it would be an entire set. Here, just one isn't costly. Disadvantage for you is I personally have zero hard info on this car including who made the thing. Ford once sold this by name and only saw a couple just around and just a hunch that they were Ford products combined with a British LeLands concern? It probably makes it hard for you as well right now. The only thing is if things have been tugged on like that to cause that I wonder if the connection unseen is making good contact. Just do everything not to make anything worse as it sure seems as parts, info, tools, equipment and information is quite a challenge for you and the service shops that could help you as well, Tom

I'd be leery of connecting a NOID light on a diesel injector circuit without verifying its operating voltage. Some of those injectors operate at higher voltages than conventional petrol injectors. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Thanks for posting the fix and glad you could or with help isolate it to that. I'll close thread as solved but if you wish just ask any moderator to reopen it, T
