Car starting bad Sign In

I have a 1998 Toyota RAV4 2WD. For the last couple of months the car has been starting bad. Once you let it sit for a while it has problems, It will take a long time to crank and once it does SOMETIMES it will idle poorly or want to shut off if you do not press the gas. If you drive it for a while, turn it off and right back on it starts good. I have had the following replaced or cleaned:

IAC throttle plates
Fuel injectors
Sparks plugs & wires
Fuel pump
Fuel filter
Fuel pressure regulator
Starter

Can anyone offer some information on what may be wrong ? Thanks in advance!

Check engine light on? If so, scan the computer and write down the trouble codes.

No check engine light. Considering everything that has done already, what would you check next?

Does it idle rough for a few seconds or longer and then idles fine? How does it run if your cruising or accelerating?

Yes exactly on the idle part and once it gets going it runs like new.

One possibility is that you have coolant leaking into a cylinder or cylinders. When you first start it after it has been sitting, the engine will run rough till it burns off the coolant. Remove all the spark plugs and use a coolant pressure tester to pressurize the coolant system. Let it sit overnight. Then look down into the cylinders with a flash light and see if there is coolant laying on top of any of the pistons.

Ok. Now i do remember someone telling me i may need a coolant exchange. Does what you just said mean i will need to get my cylinders or head gaskets replaced? Or is there a cheaper way to fix this if it is the problem?

Re: Car starting bad Sign In

First thing you need to do is figure out if coolant is actually leaking into the cylinders when the engine sits. If that is the case, the cylinder head has to be removed.
