Check Engine Question Sign In

I have a 97 E320 Mercedes, had a code for both O2 sensors bad. I changed them, erased the code, but light came back on. Do i have to run it through a certain amount of cycles so the light turns off on it's own? Or should it not come back on once code is erased?

Re: Check Engine Question Sign In

There is no such code. The code number merely identifies a situation and the technician has to determine the cause.

Sounds like the counter monkey at Autozone have been practicing doctor again.

What were the exact code numbers?

Actually I must have said my question wrong. Sorry. The mechanic at the shop said it looked like both sensors were bad.He changed them but the light is still on. My initial question was, will the check engine light turn off after a certain amount of cycles? or will just erasing the light after repair be enough? hope that mekes better sense

I seriously doubt you have fixed the problem yet. I've been doing this over 40 years and I have yet 2 see 2 defective sensors on the same car. I need the code numbers to tell you anything.

Re: Check Engine Question Sign In

If you can't tell us what the code is, then I can't tell you when it will clear. I doubt it will clear at all since you haven't fixed the problem yet.
