Cruise control not working

I've done some searches and have found a lot of answers about brake light switch problems but I don't think that's my problem. I have a 1990 Chevy 1/2 ton p/u with a 350 engine. I know nothing about how cruise control works so I am starting from scratch here. The cruise control has not been working for a couple of years and I don't do long trips so I haven't really had the need for it. I am thinking of selling now and if it's something easy I'd like to fix it. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem? Where do I start? I think the fuse was the first thing I checked when it stopped working way back when. Any ideas? Mitch

Take a look where the cruise switch wiring comes out of the signal lever and disappears down into the steering column. The small wiring had a tendency to break there from the up and down and the twisting movement of the signals and wipers being turned on and off. After that we would need to know what style of system is on this truck, whether it is a vacuum servo or electronic motor? From there the testing can get a bit fussy as to getting the proper readings from the proper circuits. Dan. Canadian "EH"
