Damage Sign In

I have a 1964 Porche 356SC that has not been started and/or driven in the past 5 months. What actions should I take before starting it to avoid any damage to the engine and/or other parts.

Re: Damage Sign In

5 months isn't too bad. Check all fluid levels, charge battery as it may have lost some juice. Don't crank too long at a time without letting starter cool down if it doesn't start right up. Gas may have evaporated some and it may take a few tries.

If it was outdoors be real careful of brakes. Make sure you have a good pedal feel as it may not stop so well right away. It would be good to give it a run and use up that gas and get fresh gas and some solvent -- just a little -- to help prevent any old fuel problems.

Again, 5 months isn't all that long. If it is to be stored for longer there are things you can do several things to prevent any problems that can crop up for long term storage,
