Dark liquid dripping from my car Sign In

I drive a '94 Ford Explorer that is basically in good health, even though it has 230,000 miles on it.

Today I noticed that there is a dark fluid dripping from the center of the engine area. (I noticed it in my garage.)

Should I be worried? Is there something that ought to be checked?

No other symptoms at this time, the car is running fine.

Thanks in advance for any help! Smile

I would say it looks like oil, yes. I had the oil changed about 3 weeks ago, but it's been driven hard since then on a long trip.

Do you think I need to have a mechanic look at it?

Thanks!!

First, crawl up under it and see if you can pinpoint where it is coming from. It may just be a loose drain plug. It may be easier to jack it up and safely support it while you are under it looking for the leak.
