Dashboard warning lights

Hello guys, This is my first post, and I hope that somebody out there can help me. I am trying to sell my husband's car after his recent stroke but it has a few niggles that I am trying to sort out. The car in question is a 2002 Mazda 323f GSI. I recently put in a new battery and ever since I have warning lights on the dashboard. These are ABS, TCS and brake warning lights. On initial start up these lights come on and stay on during my journey. However once I get to work, if I turn the engine off and then on again they disappear. It's seems that the engine has to get warm first. Does anybody have any answers to this annoying problem. I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance

Sorry for the medical problems. OK - Why do or did you think it needed at a battery in the first place? Do you know if it did this before getting a new battery? ABS light and others are meant to come on as a bulb check during start up then go out. Just maybe if you restarted it again after first start for your commute they would go out. Not real sure what may have happened or was already there? Who changed the battery - you or a tech - either can be fine. Was the new one connected even for a short time to the wrong posts? ----------------------------- Perhaps let me start over. If it runs and the objective is just to sell it I think if it runs fine and just this you are probably better off to sell it the way it is rather than open a Pandora's box ( a maybe ) as to what went wrong or was wrong. It's possible that a speed sensor isn't sending a correct signal and codes might help tell you that circuit has a fault and hope it's just something simple but probably just to sell it would go too nuts to fix this if only this just to sell it. Your call of course. It's not always cost effective to repair fairly harmless issues just for the purpose of selling it, T

Hi Tom. Thank for your reply. Although I am not sure I am inclined to think that I must have put the new battery in incorrectly. Have I done permanent damage do you think? Thanks

OK - if you did put cables on battery wrong then changed them to properly there would be some odd things that can happen from little to major problems. It runs and if just two lights on ABS = Anti-lock brakes will not operate if lit, and other was traction control I think which IMO either means a fault or that it's on and you need to turn it off now. So many vehicles do NOT have that feature I don't consider it much of a problem if not operational and only that but check in owner's manual if not sure how you activate it and shut it off as I can't guess each vehicle's controls. IDK - perhaps a button that just shows "t/c" or some icon? You have to say if you KNOW you hooked battery up incorrectly or we are lost already or I am. Again, the key is you wish to sell it, it runs now you said so would just be honest and go ahead and sell it doing what it's doing with buyer aware of it and let them deal with it. I suggest that because if you take this problem in and somehow get the wrong understanding with a shop it could be an open ticket for all kinds of time spent finding out something at great cost to you that you will not recover IMO. Why they go out upon a second starter later I really just don't know? What do you want to do? I can't see how I/we are going to help much for a fix yet with you short of sending this out or just plain look for wires not connected, burned, fuses all good and perhaps a code reading for free at many auto parts outlets but just get the readings not their suggestions of what to do or buy about it yet. Again, for you I'd just sell it as already said and take off some $$ for the issue and be done with it, Tom

There's never a good reason to me to be dishonest with something like this or anything really. Let buyer know then they decide and you can feel good about it. Make papers say what is wrong so no confusion to anyone. You said up top your dealing with your husband's stroke which really caught my attention and frustrated with a damn car issue at the same time. Now it's not about mechanical anything but priorities and being a human. Speak for myself even some loss of the best price possible if just having this car is in you way at this time you are lucky it's running and can sell it. I'm worried that even all good intention could just make this a headache you don't need. It's also seemingly a problem that can go away and luck would have it that it wouldn't act up with total pros working on it making it a challenge at a time you probably don't need and neither do techs meaning the problems that just don't show themselves and play hide and seek doesn't make it easy or please them or you, T
