Hello I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra SE. The driver side door doesn’t open from the outside ONLY after unlocking. If I open the door from the inside, the door will open again from the outside until I lock and unlock again. I was thinking it's the outside handle but then again, it works until locked it again.. NOTE: I use the key fob to unlock and tried the key to unlock as well Unlocking appears to be successful since I don't have to mess with the lock from the inside to open. If anyone has any thoughts on what the problem, please let me know. Thanks for reading. K.

It sounds like the door lock actuator for that door is not working properly. When you use the key or open it from the inside you are mechanically unlocking it. When you use the fob you are relying on the electronic actuator. Sounds like you need to replace the door lock actuator. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

It probably doesn't have a key on outside that mechanically works a level of STUPID that now the rule out there. Yes with Hammer it's probably the motor is the acting lock actuator. Can you buy it separately? IDK. Yes but from where? It's a pest on most cars to throw the whole rack out, motors and all AND hold window glass up but can be done. Who is fixing this, you or a shop? Tools involved to use once wreck savings would cost you more than a decent shop hard to find now people don't like this work! Tom

Sorry for my late reply, was a bit of trouble trying to log back into this forum. Right now i am at 96k miles and trying to get another 6 month before i buy another new one. I was hoping to do the repairs myself but sounding like it might be out of my skillset. Thanks for your replies.

On this model the actuator is incorporated into the door latch so the whole latch has to be replaced.
